Our Staff

Children doing gardening

We recognise the importance of skilled, experienced staff. We go to great lengths to ensure that our staff are well qualified. We offer training and apprenticeships here for our staff, who have qualifications ranging from NVQ levels 3, 4 and 5 up to degree level. All staff members achieve their first aid qualifications, food hygiene certificates and have also been trained in safe guarding children (child protection). Staff attend regular Foundation Stage training and liaison meetings as well as other relevant training, appropriate to their individual stage of development. This benefits the staff and children as we are continually updating and refining our practice to enhance our high quality provision.

The Key Person Approach

Each baby and child at Tiggers is assigned a ‘key person’ who helps them to become familiar with our provision and to feel confident and safe within it. This named member of staff, assigned to your son or daughter acts as the key point of contact between you and Tiggers. The key person typically develops a genuine bond with each child (and the child’s parents) and develops a settled, close relationship. Here at Tiggers we ensure your child’s key person meets the needs and supports the development of all the individuals in their care. They are trained to respond sensitively to the feelings, ideas and behaviour of children. Communication with parents is our priority in making sure your baby or child is being cared for appropriately for each family.

Children learn best when they are actively involved and interested in making their own discoveries. They enjoy a great sense of satisfaction from their own personal explorations and investigations. At Tiggers, we acknowledge that every child’s learning journey is unique to them, so all planning stems from children’s interests and is built around play activities which staff plan at a level that is appropriate for the children they are caring for.
